The ninth bi-annual IEEE workshop on Automatic Speech Recognition and Understanding (ASRU) will be held November 27-December 1, 2005. The venue will be the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach Resort in Cancun, Mexico. The ASRU workshops have a tradition of bringing together researchers from academia and industry in an intimate and collegial setting to discuss problems of common interest in automatic speech recognition and understanding. Papers in all areas of human language technology are encouraged to be submitted, with emphasis placed on automatic speech recognition and understanding technology, speech to text systems, spoken dialog systems, multilingual language processing, robustness in ASR, spoken document retrieval, and speech-to-speech translation. The workshop program will consist of invited lectures, oral and poster presentations, and panel discussions. Ample time will be allowed for informal discussions and to enjoy the impressive tropical setting.
The venue for ASRU 2005 is the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach Hotel and Resort. The Fiesta Americana is a AAA rated five diamond resort. The grounds include a 1000 foot beach and 600 foot swimming pool on the island of Cancun. A limited number of ocean front rooms have have been set aside at a reduced rate for workshop participants. A special room rate at the Fiesta Americana of $140 for a junior suite, per night is available for workshop attendees. Subject to availability, these rates may be extended on either end of the conference dates.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided daily at the Fiesta Americana for workshop attendees beginning with breakfast Monday, Nov. 27 through breakfast on Thursday, Dec. 1, the day of departure. The meal costs are included in the workshop registration fees which must be paid separately on the ASRU2005 workshop registration page. Also included in the workshop registration fee is a welcome reception in the evening of Sunday, Nov. 27 and banquet dinner on Tuesday evening, Nov. 29. Credit is not extended for missing meals.
